The attorneys for Twitter asked to be included on any further information in the case? You’re allowed to just do that? Can I go into a courtroom and demand to be included in any for the communication and all relevant further information in a case? Are they taking Jones on as a client? I’m confused how they have legal standing to do this.

If I were to guess, and question the existance of standing, my bet is musk was a bidder when infowars was put for sale. My guess is possibly the families themselves objected and asked the court to take a lower bid, that would do what they actually cared about (Create counter messaging to his blowhard conspiracy theories).

I figured it had to do with the sale of the @realAlexJones twitter handle that was being disputed. I cant remember if that had been settled or not, but I know he was trying to keep it, and the opposing side said it was a business account and should be turned over.

That makes sense. Twitter currently reserves the right to decide who gets what handle so court orders saying otherwise would likely ruffle their feathers.

I was born cynical but him making a fuss has other motives but I’m not that clever. Is he trying to become a martyr? He spends thousands per moth, he can afford another set, no? He has hidden money everywhere.

He owes a billion dollars. Infowars isn’t worth near that much. Even after the sell, he’ll continue oweing hundreds of millions of dollars until the day he dies.

        Quotes from the article:

According to Bloomberg, Murray told Lopez that Global Tetrahedron’s bid was a better option because the Sandy Hook families agreed to waive some of the money owed to them in order to pay off Jones’ other creditors. “I’ve always thought my goal was to maximize the recovery for unsecured creditors,” Murray said, per Bloomberg. “And under one bid, they’re clearly better than they were under the other.”

        and

The only other bid besides the Onion’s was $3.5 million from First United American Companies LLC, the company that operates Jones’ online supplement store.

You can go into a courtroom, no one can stop you from trying. And if Twitter’s attorneys want to represent Jones, they can certainly do so, in which case they will be included on future communication.

A large percent of legal proceedings are not kept secret, so if the lawyers are not representing him and they are trying to make a big deal out of the fact that they want to get informed, actually they’re just grandstanding and there’s nothing to see here. Probably that’s what’s happening.

Back about 25 years ago Jones was very anti fascist. Wonder what happened to completely ignore the actual fascists. Probably money from the fascists.

The Onion should sell it back for exactly 1 googol, then pay the fines imposed to Google bey Russia, and finally, purchasing Google with the change.

For the record the “change” from that deal would be, measured to any reasonable degree of accuracy, exactly one googol.

It’s really really hard to explain how numbers that big work.

Basically if you had ten trillion dollars, and you spent one single cent, you would have spent a greater proportion of your wealth than that fine would be as a proportion of one googol dollars.

And just to really put all that in perspective, let’s talk about how big that fine actually is.

It’s frequently said that it’s more than the entire world’s GDP, but that’s not even close. Imagine if every single planet (not “habitable planet”, just “planet”) in our galaxy - all eight trillion of them - was terraformed to support life. Imagine if all of them had a population and economy like Earth. The entire galaxy’s GDP wouldn’t be enough.

In fact, a hundred of those galaxies wouldn’t be enough. A thousand wouldn’t be enough. A hundred thousand wouldn’t be enough. It would take 20 million of those galaxies to pay that fine (at the time of reporting; by now its more galaxies than exist in all the known universe, because it doubles every day).

And all of that would still be a rounding error to a rounding error against one googol.
