I got tired of there not being a place to geek out over one of the best FPS games I’ve played in ages, so I decided to be the change I wish to yada yada, so I made one.

The Finals is a free, competitive FPS game made by Embark Studios - a dev team formed by a bunch of old developers from the Battlefield series. All classes, weapons, abilities, and game modes are completely free and can only be unlocked through game progression; the only things you can spend money on are cosmetics, though the game also gives you a ton of free cosmetic items through various events, account progression, and the free season pass tier. It’s available on Steam, GeForce Now, Xbox S|X, PS5, and will be available on PS4 later this year.

It’s a super fun, super flashy, and super addicting game. If you haven’t already tried it: give it a shot, it’s free! So it’ll cost you nothing but your time. Heck, if you have a GFN account, you don’t even have to download anything, you can literally be playing right now. And if you like it, come hang out and share some clips! I’ll be trying to populate the community with content as I can. I’m not being paid to glaze the game like this, I just really enjoy it and want to share it with everyone.

When the game first launched, you needed to disable AVX512 for it to work. Now it works fine without doing anything. It does still occasionally crash or freeze for me when loading into a game though.

Seems like I can’t find the community?

I think Fedia might be having some sync issues right at the same time I posted this. Boy, do I have awful timing, lmao

Other question: Does ot work on Linux now? We tried months ago on Garuda (Arch) and it doesn’t boot iirc.

I’m not sure, I play on PS5 so I’m not up to speed with the PC side of the game. I think it uses Easy AntiCheat on PC, so that’ll be whatever can of worms Linux users already have to deal with. I know some people have gotten it to run on Linux seemingly without issue, though. But since it’s unsupported, I imagine it probably breaks quite often, since the game is updated weekly.
