Account migration from @[email protected] after learning the admins of that instance are wankers.
People like to excuse this by saying you can install resource packs for free outside the marketplace, but to me that makes it even worse. That proves without any wiggle room that the only reason the marketplace is even there is to prey on ignorant kids.
Well said, I like that.
Thing is, you never have any clue whether the AI is telling you something even remotely true unless you go behind it and trawl through six pages of shitty SEO-optimized bullshit anyway. So you can either take its word at face value and potentially be completely wrong, or else just do the research yourself anyway and ignore the AI answer.
Personally, I choose the second. I find it to be less frustrating if I just assume the AI is wrong.
How could I? He tells me constantly. Insists upon it in fact.
In my circles “Trump card” has evolved to mean the exact opposite of what it used to. It used to mean “the one move that guarantees your win”, now it means “the move that guarantees your loss”.
Metroid Fusion was a banger. I didn’t even own a Gameboy, but my friend did, and I would trade him half my allowance every week to let me borrow it over the weekend. Many many nights were spent up late under the covers exploring BSL Station.
“Everyone’s saying it. All the best people are saying it.”
Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
A meme (/miːm/; MEEM) is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads by means of imitation from person to person within a culture and often carries symbolic meaning representing a particular phenomenon or theme. A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices, that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. (Source: Wikipedia, though other dictionaries say similar.)
I think by a broad definition it still counts. But by a broad definition, Rock-Paper-Scissors is a meme.
I know this is pedantic, but defining what is and is not a meme is actually a pretty interesting problem. It’s a basic unit of data that’s shared and replicated among thinking minds. It’s our currency of culture.
Worse than that - we’re going to steal your advanced farming, irrigation and astronomy, claim it as our own, then enslave you to work on these same farms with all the human rights afforded to an ox.
Historically speaking, white people - and I say this as one of them myself - have gone through and really extra fucked up the entire lives of basically anyone we ever met including all other white people. On behalf of white people across all of time and space - I’m really sorry, bro, that shit was super fucked up. Some of us are working to try and make that better. Unfortunately some others of us are still working to make that worse.
I want to argue about that being technically Welsh, but I was coming in here to say foie gras and that’s French as fuck so fair enough I guess.
When they’ve blown more than a third of their market lead with poor build quality, poor customer service, and a CEO that is actively pushing away both consumers and advertisers? Yeah I do think that’s blowing it. They had a golden goose and then they kicked it enough times that it’s stopped laying eggs.
And yes, other EV makers are outstripping them, that’s how they lost nearly 30% of the market share. That’s a third of the entire market for EV cars, that they previously had in their pockets. Not outstripping in sales, yet, maybe - but the build quality and reliability (or rather, the notoriously poor quality and unreliability of Tesla in particular) are pushing customers that direction in record numbers. Name me any other company that lost 30% of their market share in two years and called this fine. I’ll wait.
At the start of the year in 2022 when Tesla was the only major EV player in town, they held a 75% market share. As of Q2 2024 they hold 49.7%. Your statement is technically correct but you don’t blow a lead like that unless something is severely wrong with your product or unless everyone else has caught up and outstripped you. In this particular case both are true.
Well, for one thing, they’ve lost first mover advantage by squandering their lead. Every other company that makes an EV now makes one that works better, lasts longer and looks better than Tesla does. Besides which he’s pandering to crowd that largely believes that their cock and balls will shrivel up and fall off if they purchase an electric vehicle.
Why move backwards? Why give up […]
Why would you rebrand Twitter? You’ve got the largest and most recognizable website and logo on the internet, why would you want to scrap all that and start almost from scratch with a new name and nondescript logo that no one recognizes? First year marketing 101 tells you this is nearly the worst possible thing you can do with a recognized brand name.
Musk is most well known for bad business decisions. More than anything else he’s done, he’s famous for his ability to rampage through a previously functional company and burn it completely to the ground. Pivoting Tesla into creating an ICE vehicle is completely on brand for him.
Karma now has a maximum of one hour turnaround time.
Haven’t needed one yet. Might need one in the next few upcoming years if things keep going as poorly as they have been. The second amendment was intended for citizens to protect themselves from invading forces and malevolent American government alike. We haven’t yet had a desperate enough need to exercise it in such a fashion, so instead it’s merely built up a gun nut culture in America. But it’s there for such times as we find ourselves approaching.
I sincerely, desperately hope it doesn’t come to that. But I’m comforted by the fact that one of the favorite tools of my possible enemy is one that also guarantees I am never defenseless.

What’s the easiest way to transfer files from windows to the deck? This seems like it should have been easy but I remember spending several frustrating hours setting up ssh only to have it frequently fail for reasons unknown, last time I tried this around when I first got my deck. Does a USB cable work if you plug it in directly? I don’t have a USB3>C data cable but I can probably get one.
Blanket response, really, although that’s a fair question because as far as I can tell this particular blurb sounds pretty sane. But I am not in any fashion an expert on this matter, being neither a lawyer nor a felon, so therefore neither I nor the OP knows if that’s actually true.
Asking an AI anything is going to give you a response that is neither true nor false but hovers in an electron cloud like probability of being true, such that to actually make use of this information you’d need to do your own follow up research on it anyway. So just do the research in the first place. It’s always a useless answer because AI is an actor that inherently cannot be trusted, it has no problem lying to you because it literally doesn’t understand the difference between truth and falsehood. All it knows is patterns. If enough people get on the internet and tell everyone the world really is flat, Google’s AI assistant will start telling you that too.
I’m a technically savvy but new to Linux user who installed Mint as my primary OS about a month ago. So far I’ve used Flatpaks and AppImages without any issue and haven’t come across snaps. Would you explain the differences and why I would care about one over another?
