Fellow atheist here. I swear, are you me because I feel the same way? All these people on the right come across so childish in their beliefs and behaviors. Whenever I get them talking about their hangups that is usually the question I ask them. Are you a baby or something? It forces them to self reflect which I think many of them are lacking in doing on a regular basis.
This has actually frightened me for years. There are fucking weirdo’s out there that believe so much in the Bible that I think they are actively trying to make the end times prophecy happen rather than just, you know… Evolve?
I remember when Reddit threads would have 50000 plus comments on the regular that felt like real discussions where karma kept the assholes in control. The front page always felt full of new things and it felt democratic in a way. In recent years it feels empty, algorithmic, and just kind of sad. Reddit felt like a safe place even with some of the grimier subreddit becoming popular. Now it’s just a oligarch pandering Nazi sympathizer platform. I was on there for 12 years and am happy I left it behind.
What a tragedy. Does anyone have any reliable lists of charities or movements that can be donated to for relief efforts?

I said justice would’ve seen Trump tried on January 7th and hung on January 8th. That got me a soft ban. Then I said kill all Nazis but six and save them for pallbearers. That got me a permaban. Tearing the bandaid off on 12 years of comments and posts hurt but so far I like the attitude of Lemmy a lot better. It feels like real conversation instead of just shitposting and trolling.
I hate that people will argue that highly taxing billionaires is disciplining success. Really? In what way? At what point is the success of their brand, product, or company no longer really theirs? When you’re a megacorp with hundreds of thousands of employees what about the success they are producing? It’s preposterous to keep holding these oligarchs up on a pedestal and continuing to pretend that they add any real benefit to anything other than the optics their PR people invent for them.
