The world already has several global reserve currencies, the euro already being #2. I see no benefit in vying for first place here. I find the whole concept a little artificial anyhow; but hey, I’m not a banker.

Oh My God! Prepare for a Tsunami of third-rate jokes by second-rate comedians!
I can vividly see before my mind’s eye a stand-up guy walking up and down the tiny stage, speaking into his mic: “BTW, have y’all heard that Hooters went bankrupt? [Insert punchline objectifying women]”
Now if it was mandatory Christian prayer time for everyone that would be an issue
AFAICS that’s exactly what it is. May not be mandatory but the phrasing “the chamber’s prayer” suggests it’s for everyone, and it’s happening in the chamber (i.e. the senate).
I couldn’t find any mention of the noon prayer, but the morning prayer is mentioned in Wikipedia: every Senate session is opened by the Senate Chaplain who has been, surprise surprise, some sort of Protestant since 1789.
I can’t help myself, I’m glad that EU countries recognize the threat and arm themselves.
Have you noticed that most “Say No To War” people - then and now - claim to be “unpolitical”? In other words, follow a gut feeling instead of forming an informed opinion? That was me in the distant past. And I see people around me talk like that.
Yes, it feels nicer. But they open themselves wide to hybrid warfare disinformation tactics, unless they make the effort of informing themselves. Until then, please have the courage to say “I don’t have enough information to have an opinion about this topic”.
As for specifically Finland and specifically this treaty:
The move aligns Finland with Poland and the Baltic states, which also plan to leave the treaty.
This makes sense.
The EU should’ve listened to the Baltic states’ Russia policies decades ago.
I was thinking the same today: if the White House had fabricated an April Fool’s joke it would be unrecognizable - unless they developed a really black sense of humor and made a press release like “Trump tells SCOTUS to overturn immunity ruling”.
Incidentally, comedians all over the globe have been bitterly complaining about Trump stealing their show since 2016.
The checks are Musk’s latest attempt to use his vast wealth to turn out voters ahead of Tuesday’s election. (…)
It’s the same playbook Musk deployed ahead of the November presidential election that some elections experts say broke the law around vote buying.
And we’ve been saying it back then. Plus other election interference by abusing X, and even Tesla?, and not only in the US. I am beyond exasperated. No amount of “I told you so” will make me happy anymore. Has anybody beyond experts voicing their opinions (and no shade on them I’m sure they did what they could) done anything against Musk in the past years?
(I have no idea why we’re posting pictures of photogenic captains)
RESPECT
On a side note (nothing to do with Cory Booker):
the chamber’s prayer at noon
I am once again flabbergasted by the separation of church & state in the US of A.
And he just happens to like the same salutes nazis like. But the leftist woke mob still calls him a nazi.
You mean you did not fill out the forms at culturalmarxism.com beforehand? 🤦
I seem to remember they were using actual WW2 tanks?
(the emoji itself is nauseating)
The euphemisms are getting wilder. They’re inching closer to “Endlösung”.
“50 raccoons in a trenchcoat pretending to be a country”

Let’s say it together: No, it isn’t
We have too much emotional baggage to have regular discussions but it was kinda cool to be on the same side during Covid, pro Ukraine and against Putin and Trump. Although he too thought me hyperbolic when I compared Trump’s first weeks in office to Hitler’s first weeks in office. Maybe he has changed his mind by now.
My parents fled a socialist country many decades ago. I grew up listening to my father drone on and on about how bad Socialism is. He still doesn’t understand that there’s a difference between socialism and totalitarianism, but following political developments of the last decade or so I am often reminded of his sermons.
One detail was: what happens when you hire people not based on qualifications but loyalty. You get stupid people in positions of power, happy to wield it for its own sake. Often with a penchant for cruelty and a vague feeling of revenge (against “the bourgeousie” then, against “woke globalists” now). And it always ends the same: you have to dilute milk with water and lie about it. This is where the US are headed now, folks. Stalinism, the burgeoning 3rd Reich, take your pick.
