Within hours of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s death by a gunman in Midtown Manhattan, the major media went full North Korea, lavishing praise on the sainted business leader. The Washington Post reported that the “smart and affable” Thompson had a “focus on keeping premiums low,” citing an unnamed company staffer who we’re to believe “spoke on condition of anonymity to protect their job.”

It is so rediculous the fbi and police were brought out with what appeared to be unlimited funds. Im pretty sure some other folks were shot dead in new york. how much money was spent finding their assailents.

they aren’t doing this to convince us, the proles. they’re doing it for their corporate masters. it’s a sign to them that they will cower and comply in advance to make sure that we, the not wealthy, won’t be given any more ammunition reasons to start going after any more of them.

it’s not going to work, the corporate media not only ripped any credibility they had during the last 16 years, they decided to go for broke and nuked it in the last 3 months. does anyone really believe anything anyone associated with a major media outlet has to say about anything related to people who are at least millionaires?

I just don’t believe anything the media says whatsoever. If anybody in the media opens their mouth, it’s likely a lie.

Of course they did - the MSM is the public relations arm of the ruling class, and a significant part of their job is ensuring that the peasants don’t revolt.

Media is one of the key gears of the regime.

I never understood why working class took them at face value.

These people are enemies and should be treated as such.

Lots of them grew up before Clinton got rid of all the laws requiring the media to be honest.

It’s crazy how much of our fucked up shit in 2024 can be traced back to 1994 Clinton shenanigans, especially since that’s still the same wing running the party

Nixon started the culture war bullshit that eventually resulted in the anti-woke and anti-trans bullshit. Reagan started the economic insanity that gave us our current massive wealth gap and is driving the popular support for deregulation and tax breaks for the wealthy. Clinton and Bush cemented our corrupt media and the domestic spying programs.

The communication ideological state apparatus, in Althusserian terms, a form of violence and repression in a kinder, gentler package.

I saw one quote praising his “deep sense of empathy” and claiming he had a “clear passion for improving access to care” …lol. I took a screenshot because of just how absurd that is. I mean, I expected plenty empty talk about what a great guy he is, but COME ON. At least try to make it sound grounded in reality.

Thompson had a “focus on keeping premiums low,”

Lol premiums are literally their entire source of revenue. The CEO of an enormous publicly-traded company had a focus on keeping revenue as low as possible? If this were actually true, the people most likely to have killed him would be everybody on the board and everybody else in the c-suite.

That’s not true. They gain revenue by fucking over many parties in many ways beyond just premiums

Exactly. The more claims you can deny the lower you can make premiums appear because you’re not actually paying out.
