I shit you not, my mom literally just was talking about that anime and joking about it with me last night. I think it’s because we were talking about police anime.

Like if I knew Lemmy didn’t have an algorithm, I’d think this shit was targeted.

Oh yeah that shit made me crack up and I knew it was fake, but it’s funny to imagine.

So much crazy shit has happened this year that for an honest second, I was dead set in believing this was real. I feel like there are some people that are this desperate. But unfortunately I’m cursed with the power of reading for more than 10 seconds.

It’s what it was advertised as originally, but then brands realized they could boom in sales by dropping that act and making cute, colorful cartridges with a shit ton of flavors that appeal to teens. Some girl had these iPod case looking ones that were flavored like pineapple banana or smth. Hell they make vapes disguised as school supplies now.

There’s a lot of people who didn’t do drugs at all that started with vaping (Truth Initiative has a 2020 study about it, I skimmed it tbh), and it’s especially bad in middle and high schools. I saw people hitting huge fucking clouds in the middle of a classroom, near the teacher’s desk. One idiot made a cloud in our dark classroom with the curtains shining sunlight on him, so they had to close the blinds and fan the cloud so he wouldn’t get caught.

They know full well they’re creating future addicts and eventual cigarette smokers, and they don’t give a damn.

I did that, and I’m 99% sure the github reports and others in the forums did that. It would’ve been reported by now if they work, and they just don’t.

I’m pretty computer literate (I’m using Fedora silver blue now and I’m a cyber college student), and I’m gen z.

I hated our digital literacy units in school, because it was always the most braindead shit every year. Stuff that you shouldn’t have to explain to a person every year, like digital footprint (think before you post), make sure it’s a https website, and misinformation vs disinformation. I wanna cry because my tech and society class I’m taking right now feels like the same shit, but I’m paying now.

I’m not sure how they should revamp, but maybe they need to show modern examples like the honey scam, the thousands of Tiktok influencers who admitted they lied about the stuff they sold when they thought the service was shutting down, and how Google search is forcing shitty AI results. But we do have the unit, it just feels braindead to anyone like me who gives a damn about the services they use online. But I’m a nerd who looks at privacy/cyber shit for fun for hours, not TikTok dual screen braindead…

I haven’t done it yet, but if you cancel your and contact them, I’ve heard you can get a refund for the months you haven’t used. Even if you cancel but don’t contact, you still can use the service until the end of your subscription.

My biggest thing stopping me rn is moving my emails away from proton mail and simpleogin (switched to mailbox.org and anonaddy free) and trying to convince myself I don’t need port forwarding 😭

I’m sorry, I’m a young gen, so maybe that explains it but… I played the virtual console Yellow and got so damn bored…

It’s hard picking a favorite gen, as 4 was my first (Platinum my beloved) but I liked 5 despite not being able to beat it, but the features they introduced after gen I are all very good. Physical Special split is good imo, makes more strategy to a relatively basic game (when you don’t play against real people), abilities are great, newer types and type combos are nice additions, and a major one it the aesthetic.

Gen I characters and region are just so bland, the lack of themes, no extra minigame stuff… And I get it was the first gen so I can’t fault them for that. But the characters in the modern games are fantastic even if they’re weak, the music only gets better and better (each gen feels like it has a genre now), they include neat side stuff like the Poke Olympics, performance contests, berries & snacks, a ton of other stuff throughout the games. Like yeah, the newer games fall hard on the battle/difficulty aspect, and GameFreak’s inability to make a good looking game is astonishing. But they do put some heart in the little things in the new games, that just made grinding all day long in OG Yellow feel like a chore…

And even those there’s a lot, more Pokemon just makes that initial hour or so of a new game feel so special, like you’re discovering it all over again.

Ugh. Thank you, I was just about to say it myself. There’s been politics in games for forever. Even the simplest shit like, “environmental destruction bad, so Sonic fight Eggman”

People are just too dumb to realize that they were kids back then…

I have no idea if Betterbird is actually better than regular Thunderbird, but I use that cause people said so and I read about it a bit. If it does die I guess I’ll switch to Thunderbird, just a little cautious about Mozilla after the privacy policy fiasco.

Betterbird is in flathub too which is great for newbies like me.

Unfortunately some really just don’t work, you got lucky. There’s a whole list of reports on GitHub about which ones work and don’t work, and unfortunately, the two I use the most didn’t, which is Navy Federal and PayPal. I tried both but they crashed everytime, and I couldn’t get past login.

Annoyingly, I just got a discover credit card, and Discover’s app works just fine, even though I don’t plan to use it nearly as much 🙄

But yeah some apps do not like how we don’t have safety net, hell, you can’t use Google Wallet and tap to pay which is a downer…

I’ve been living with Fedora Silverblue for the past month or two and loving it, except for the fact there is no true good alternative to ShareX (FOSS but on Windows only) for taking screenshots, video clips, audio clips, and having easily configurable hot key galore. Is Wine + Share X a good/viable alternative? Cause Flameshot is very rudimentary compared to it.

I use ShareX for sentence mining when I consume Japanese media for easy Anki flashcard creation.

Honestly I might get more active in posting, cause some of the content I wanna see is not active/has one person posting on the community. I rarely post on any social media, but the fediverse just sparks something in me to make it a more active place.

I’ve been consuming BL, Yaoi and m/m since middle school, so I was scientifically engineered and fated to find MRM one day out of desperation. I’m also a cyber student and love looking up privacy shit for the fun of it, so I joined the fediverse. I used to be on there a lot but now I frequent AO3 more.

I felt like I was in on some crazy secret when I saw how one of the pirated manga (Tadaima Okaeri, the ABO one…) got an anime last year. Felt surreal knowing some of that stuff is actually getting published 😅

Wow I just emailed MyReadingManga asking them to delete my account cause I didn’t need the email anymore and I couldn’t change it, and now I see this. Wonder if they’re gonna get hit with the ban. RIP, hopefully they do the conversion to threadiverse to save the comments since they are a WordPress site.

Go to a highschool or in my case a softball field and you will find plenty. I hated walking around kids who were doing Tiktoks in my HS hallway cause they’re so fucking entitled. Bathrooms weren’t safe either, people did them there too. My fucking teammates were addicted to it, used to do them at tournaments and hotels frequently.

I mean yeah, it’s still pretty much in beta rn.

Not ur fault or anything but I’m a little tired of the people who keep questioning loops and pixelfed on being open source and federated. Like, it’s coming/already happened bro, just chill.

People keep being like “Is Pixelfed FOSS yet?” When there’s literally several 3rd party apps available for the service already (I use Pixelix). Loops app is in beta on Android and iOS, it’ll be open source when it’s not absolute dogwater to run (ngl the UI scroll is painful).

But like it just got funding and new members last week, it will be fully FOSS soon enough…

I’m young and even this has me gagging. Our Switch games definitely don’t look like that, although I do feel box art and blurbs on the back used to entice me more, but maybe that’s just because I’m not a kid anymore. But yeah this is fucking horrendous to look at 🤢

Do android system apps count as bloatware? Cause on GrapheneOS you quite literally start out with the bare minimum on a fresh install.

I haven’t done too much in terms of messing around with system apps besides allowing/denying some permissions with Permission Manager X
