“Efforts to undermine public confidence in proven cures are not just uninformed — they’re dangerous,” said the Republican leader, who is a polio survivor.

This is apparently the point where the “moderate” Republicans are willing to start pushing back — where they’ve got personal experience with just how evil a policy is.

Too late turtlefucker, you set this machine in motion, there’s no going back now. Enjoy the last few years watching the nation you took for granted collapse before you die.

This cum stain will never ever have to truly see any consequences for what he has done.

That’s the difference here that we should really be highlighting. These people may as well live on another planet, that’s how much more privilege and just downright evil these people are working with.

Dealing with their own actions hasnt even been on their radar a little bit.

It’s interesting that RFK Jr., the head of HHS, is now actively preparing to withdraw the polio vaccine. And the story is “Ooh, Republican drama!”

Our government has become a reality TV show, but it’s still doing things that affect living and dying. The media is the problem, they made this happen to sell ad space.

Our government has become a reality TV show

That’s what happens when you put the host of the Apprentice in the White House. He gets to play CEO of America fire everyone and run it into the ground just like he did his fucking casinos. And he will continue to money launder Russian money and peddle influence. Elect shitty reality show hosts to government, live in a shitty reality show.

The funny part is, with how wacko things have been in the last 2 months, it would not surprise me one iota for him and the balance of the last dozen old guard repubs to defect to the dems over something like this.

He’s old enough that he had polio before their were vaccines to prevent it, and had a leg paralyzed for an extended period of time. Probably saw other kids forced to live in an iron lung and maybe even die

He’s retired. So he can say whatever he might have otherwise retained from saying.

By the same token, it doesn’t matter what he says since he will have no power.

People are cheering because Mitch McConnell is fighting back against RFK banning the polio vaccine. Literally the only reason he cares is because he had polio as a kid. And if every other vaccine gets banned, he probably won’t say a damn thing.

He and his fellows have a total lack of empathy. No comprehension of any sort of suffering they haven’t personally experienced.

“Being poor isn’t a problem. I’ve never been poor.”

“Getting raped isn’t a problem. I’ve never been raped.”

And, of course, “bigotry isn’t a problem, no one’s ever called me a name because of my skin color.”

There’s a difference between supporting an act and supporting a person. You can say that this is a good thing while also acknowledging what a piece a shit they are. Moscow Mitch has fucked the country over in more ways than one but if we can keep the polio vaccine then I would call that a win for everyone.

It’s not much of a win if all the other vaccines get thrown out. Not dying from polio doesn’t really matter as much when it’s easy to die from measles, mumps, etc.

The Overton Window cuts both ways!

I didn’t grow up a centrist. But the window moved both to the left and to the right of me!

M8! The only prominent politicians in American politics who are actually left of centre are Bernie Sanders and AOC. People weren’t excited about Harris because she’s left, they were just grateful for the opportunity to vote for someone who isn’t a white supremacist with pretty advanced frontotemporal dementia. But make no mistake the vast majority of the democrats are regarded as right of centre by europeans.the window didn’t move left at all, you just moved with it

The Overton Window is about the population, not the politicians. The left in the US has moved more left and the right has moved more right. The difference is that the republicans have turned over a lot of their members to stay in the window as it moves right. McConnell is one of the last of the old guard of traditional (as opposed to alt right) conservatives.

The democrats so far have managed to keep their old guard by appealing to fear and other tactics. They’re fighting so hard to keep the party from moving leftward and it’s costing them elections.

The US population, as a whole, moved right.

Bruh, we literally elected a fascist.

The left didn’t move “farther left”, that segment has grown bigger, is all. The right didn’t move farther right, they’ve always been white supremacists and misogynist. That segment has grown a lot recently, hence the Overton shift.

The only reason he’s coming out for the vaccine is because he had polio as a child. It’s another one of those things where they only care about an issue if it affects them directly.

There is no cause for confusion, be at ease. Even an especially unintelligent conservative can easily comprehend the danger of their own policies, once the harm is made intimate to them.
